ABOUT THE WOMEN DO BLOG

We have all felt the pressure to live up to others' standards or live life a certain way, but the truth is no one can ever live up to anything that wasn't meant for them or walk in a path that belongs to someone else. We are all individuals with different goals and passions. We have to do our lives our way, we have to live for ourselves, we have to forget the 'rules'.

Becoming Fearless

October 10, 2019

For too many years, I stood in the shadows hoping and wishing I could make more out of my life.  But I always hesitated, always came up short, always had an excuse or a justifiable ‘reason’ for not meeting my goals and my heart head on. I was getting in my own way at e...

Is it me?

I have gotten so much better at asking myself this when conflict arises in my life. And thank God because I’ve learned that my ability to grow and be the person I want to be relies on my willingness to honestly analyze my own behaviors and tendencies.

I wasn’t...

Have you ever experienced one of those periods in life where you feel like you just keep taking hits? Every door seems to shut. Every answer is no. You feel like the people who should value what you bring to the table don’t. Or that the things you think should work kee...

Powerless to make any real change, I hate this feeling. Everyday there is something new that makes me sad or angry and I want to fix it. But I feel like I can’t. I have no real power, or place of stature, I am not wealthy, and I don’t feel like I have the time it takes...

July 1st is the one year anniversary of Women Do and I could not be happier about its progress as well as my own over the past 365 days.

At the beginning I made a commitment to post on social media (IG, FB) every day and write a blog every week, it was a promise I...

Do you ever have moments where you wish that you could stop time?

I sat at a table surrounded by some of my closest girlfriends where we laughed, we cried, and we shared our most intimate stories. They were stories that have caused us pain and joy, stories that have mol...

My dad has stood beside me through life’s ups and downs. He has pushed me to do things on my own, he has encouraged me to reach out for help, he has raised me to have an independent spirit, and he has given me the gift of mindful prayer before acting. He has taught me...

June 6, 2019

In honor of my 34th birthday today I bring to you some of the things I have learned along the way.

1. The expectations of others are not yours to live up to

2. All your passions will not lie within your career and that is OK (I keep having to relearn this one)

3. So...

You can’t see it. I can’t always see it either. Looking at our reflection we are too quick to find things we believe are wrong instead of acknowledging all that is right. We live in a world that creates a narrative convincing us that the less space we take up the happi...
